The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality “is the lead Federal agency charged with improving the safety and quality of America’s health care system” (AHRQ.gov). The AHRQ has just released an infographic showing the progress made in primary care practices in using evidence-based approaches to improving heart health in America. The ABCS approach looks at Aspirin use, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management and Smoking cessation support. The AHRQ’s goal is for 70% of practices to be using the ABCS approach. Currently,  63% of the primary care practices are providing adequate smoking cessation support; a good start, but there is more work to be done.

See the infographic here EvidenceNow: The ABCS of Heart Health to see how participating primary care practices are doing with all four areas of the ABCS approach.
