Smoking Cessation Critical For Heart Health, Too

The Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality “is the lead Federal agency charged with improving the safety and quality of America’s health care system” ( The AHRQ has just released an infographic showing the progress made in primary care practices in using evidence-based approaches to improving heart health in America. The ABCS approach looks at Aspirin use, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management and Smoking cessation support. The AHRQ’s goal is for 70% of practices to be using the ABCS approach. Currently,  63% of the primary care practices are providing adequate smoking cessation support; a good start, but there is more work to be done.

See the infographic here EvidenceNow: The ABCS of Heart Health to see how participating primary care practices are doing with all four areas of the ABCS approach.
