COPD takes center stage at Stanford Medicine Symposium

Stanford University’s Medicine X Educational Grand Challenge brings together “diverse and inclusive groups of health care stakeholders around an important health care problem…in an engaging and collaborative educational format” to provide an opportunity to apply what is known about change management and put it into practice through an educational learning opportunity, or what we are calling an “educational grand challenge”. This year, Stanford’s focus is on COPD, and it featured COPD advocate and patient Grace Anne Dorney Koppel and her husband, Ted Koppel.

According to an article published by Stanford, this year’s Educational Grand Challenge, which lasts until December, “is an effort to generate new solutions to help people with COPD. More than 40 people, including patients, physicians and researchers, are involved. In a series of tweet chats and in-person meetings, they will explore and brainstorm solutions to five key problems related to COPD using the principles of Design Thinking”.
