The latest issue of the Center for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) includes an article that examines the practices and characteristics of e-cigarette users who experienced associated lung injury. Researchers found that nearly all of the patients reported using tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-containing vaping cartridgess, and most of the cartridges contained vitamin E acetate. The CDC notes that the potential role of vitamin C acetate in vaping-related lung injury is unknown.

CDC continues to warn individuals to avoid the use of e-cigarettes/vaping. “At present, persons should not use e-cigarette, or vaping, products containing THC. In addition, because the specific cause or causes of lung injury are not yet known and while the investigation continues, persons should consider refraining from use of all e-cigarette, or vaping, products.”
